Porto-Vecchio vu de Cagna

Vue panoramique de la villa

Porto - Vecchio and its gulf

A true pearl of the extreme south, Porto-Vecchio is the city of salt for all Corsica inhabitants. Salt is harvested in September. The city itself is highly picturesque and divided in two parts. On one side, the modern port is very lively during summer, lined with ice-cream parlours and host to many musical events. The upper part of the town is where you'll find remains of a stormy history and the old fortified town, built on pink porphyry rocks.

A victim of its own success, Porto-Vecchio has sprawled far, not alwas for the better, and the traffic is always terrible. A genuine party town, Porto-Vecchio sets the tone of the season all over Corsica. Porto-Vecchio, it's an intense cultural life, a varied and lively night life, exceptional sites to enjoy all pleasures - lazing, sports, visits and discovering !

To have a swim, you can head first to Palombaggia, the beautiful fine white sand beach that runs southwards to reach the Acciaghju cape. It is famous for its umbrella pines. And from there, you can enjoy a grandiose panoramic view on the Cerbicale islands. You can also choose Santa Giulia and its turquoise lagoon, a stretch of fine white sand running for kilometres at the foot of the mountain.
